Quarantine Days/Our New Normal

Hi Everyone,

We hope you are all staying safe and well during these difficult days. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the amazing first responders dealing with this crisis. We so appreciate all of them! The RO team are all thankfully healthy and strong and we wanted to give you an update on how we are coping during the Covid-19 pandemic and quarantine.

As with many other small businesses in Sea Cliff, NY and across the country, we are struggling to keep our heads above water while our doors remain closed. This is not an easy task considering the type of business we have and the fact that so many people are out of work and dealing with loss. However, the pause has given us time to reflect, refocus and reassess. In many ways, this forced quarantine has become a blessing in disguise. It is allowing us to put greater thought into the pieces that we source, and the time has given us the ability to pick and choose pieces carefully and mindfully. We are working behind the scenes to find items that are not only unique, but which have an important story to tell as well. Omar brought back some beautiful floral pieces on his recent trip to Colombia and we cannot wait to share these with you. We think you will be blown away by the incredible workmanship of the artisans there. We hope to have those pieces as well as many others for sale on our website soon. We also continue to seek out and support our local artisans as well. These artisans, many of whom have small businesses of their own, are the heart and soul of RO. The ability to showcase their unique and beautiful work is a privilege that we take seriously and will continue to do for as long as we are here.

RO has always been about looking to nature for materials that can be used in creating one-of-a-kind furniture and décor pieces. We also strive to find natural materials that can be used in the design of a home or space. This time off has reaffirmed our commitment to offering organic and natural materials that are ecofriendly and sustainable. We carry materials that are healthy, not only for the environment, but non-toxic and safe for you individually as well. Now more than ever, we recognize that our environment plays an important role in our health and safety and we are committed to using products that further this goal. We continue to source non-toxic and eco-friendly flooring, wall coverings, paints, plaster clays, countertops, recycled rugs and so much more. Hopefully, someday soon, you will visit our design center for a consultation with Nichole or Omar and design your dream space!

In the meantime, we are not sitting idly by. Omar is working in his shop (alone-so he is social distancing) creating new décor and furniture pieces that you will be wowed by including some cool handmade reclaimed wood mirrors. We are also planning some virtual events and activities such as chalk paint and design classes and online shopping events. Nichole will be hosting a fun design challenge seminar and Omar is going to teach a class on installing a reclaimed wood wall. Moreover, we are turning our previously scheduled in-person extract making class into a virtual event and will also be hosting an online candle making class with the RO team!  We hope you tune in from the safety of your homes for a little lighthearted fun with us during these crazy quarantine days. These events will be posted on our website, FB and Instagram so keep checking for updates!

So, as the days pass in our ‘new normal’, we hope that you do not forget about us. We continue to look for inspiring and unique pieces that you will love in addition to finding the best natural design products for your home, and we are trying to keep you entertained with our online classes and events. We are so appreciative of our customers, especially those supporting us locally in our little town of Sea Cliff, NY and we look forward to seeing you when all this is over. Thank you for supporting our small business in these difficult times. Stay healthy and well. Love to all.

Omar, Dina, Nichole and Audra
